The practical SOP template

A fill-in procedure your team can actually follow.

EDITABLE GUIDEOperations

What this guide covers

A fill-in procedure your team can actually follow.

Sections

  1. Purpose and owner. What task is covered? Who maintains this document?
  2. Trigger and inputs. When does the procedure start? What must be available?
  3. Steps. For each step, write action, responsible role and expected output.
  4. Definition of done. Describe the final result and where it is recorded.
  5. Exceptions. Explain when to stop, ask for clarification or escalate.
  6. Review. Record version, last tested date and next review owner.

Worked example

Step: Check that the request includes an owner and due date. If missing, return it for clarification rather than guessing.

How to use it

Download the editable file, fill it in with a real task from your own work and revise it once you have tried the process. The guide is meant to be used, not filed.

This guide is educational material. It is not legal, security or compliance advice. If your work touches regulated data, involve the right professional before automating.
